Drying & Moisture Control
Mould treatment does not end when the materials come out.
After removal, the affected area needs to dry properly before it can be sealed or rebuilt. We supply commercial-grade dehumidifiers to pull moisture out of the structure — and we check progress every three days so the job moves forward without delays.
Why Drying Matters
Strip-out is step one. Drying is step two.
When plasterboard or other wet materials are removed, the timber framing, insulation, and surrounding structure are often still holding significant moisture. If you seal or rebuild before that moisture is gone, you create the exact conditions mould needs to return — trapped humidity, no airflow, and organic material to feed on.
Commercial dehumidifiers work differently from the units you can buy at a hardware store. They move a much larger volume of air and pull moisture out of the structure itself — not just the air in the room. We place them strategically based on the affected area and check readings every three days to monitor progress.
The Right Equipment
Dehumidifier or air scrubber — they do different jobs.
These two pieces of equipment are often confused. We use both — but at different stages of a job, and for different reasons.
Dehumidifier
Pulls moisture out of the air and the building structure. Used during the drying phase — after materials have been removed and before the area is rebuilt. The goal is to get moisture readings down to safe levels.
Air Scrubber
Filters the air using HEPA filtration to capture mould spores and particulates. Used during and after remediation work to protect the surrounding areas and occupants while work is underway. Does not dry the structure — that is what a dehumidifier does.
How We Manage Drying
We monitor progress — not just drop equipment and leave.
Drying is an active process. The rate depends on the material, how saturated it is, ambient temperature, and airflow. We check every three days using a moisture meter to track readings and confirm the drying is working. If something is not dropping as expected, we can adjust equipment placement or add additional units.
- Equipment placed based on affected area and airflow
- Moisture meter readings taken every three days
- Progress documented so you know where things stand
- Equipment adjusted if moisture is not dropping as expected
- Sign-off only when readings are at safe levels

Confirmed before we arrive. No surprises.
Commercial dehumidifiers and air scrubbers. Number of units depends on the size of the affected area.
We revisit every three days to take moisture meter readings and confirm the drying is on track.
